How to Play

pokerman5000 is a planning poker tool for agile teams. Everyone estimates a story point value in secret, then all cards are revealed at once — no anchoring, no groupthink. After the reveal, the table awards four titles based on how everyone voted.

Player Titles

MANIAC

The player whose estimate is the highest above the room average. Maniacs think big — they see complexity, risk, or scope that others might be underweighting. The title goes to whoever's estimate is farthest above the mean. If two players tie, both earn it.

LIMPER

The player whose estimate is the lowest below the room average. Limpers are the optimists of the table — they believe the work is simpler than the group thinks. The title goes to whoever's estimate is farthest below the mean. Ties are shared.

FLIP-FLOPPER

The player who changes their estimate the most after the reveal. After cards are shown, players can revise their vote. Whoever changes their number wins this (dubious) honor. Across a session, it accumulates — the player who has flip-flopped in the most rounds holds the title.

STUBBORN MULE

The player who holds their ground after the reveal. Despite seeing everyone else's cards and hearing the discussion, they keep their original estimate. Principled conviction or pig-headedness — you decide. Like Flip-Flopper, this accumulates across rounds in a session.

Round vs. Session

The left panel shows stats at two levels:

  • ROUND — who earned each title in the current round only. Resets when the host clicks NEW ROUND.
  • SESSION — who has earned each title the most across all rounds played since the session was created.

The mean box on the right shows the current round's average estimate (after reveal) and a running session average across all completed rounds.
